Fred H. Langhammer

Chairman of Global Affairs at the Estee Lauder Companies, Inc.

Mr. Fred H. Langhammer has been the Chairman of Global Affairs at The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. since 2004. Mr. Langhammer has served extensively at the Estee Lauder companies: as Chief Executive Officer from 2000-2004, Chief Operating Officer from 1985-1999, President from 1995-2004, Executive Vice President from 1985-1995, Managing Director of Operations in Germany from 1982-1985, and as President of Operations in Japan from 1975- 1982. Prior to joining Estée Lauder, he was the General Manager at Dodwell Japan. He also served as a Director of Central European Media Enterprises Ltd., RSL Communications, Ltd., Nabisco Holdings Corp., The European Equity Fund, Inc., and The Gillette Company. Langhammer also served as a Director at: The Central Europe, Russia and Turkey Fund, Inc. (formerly Central Europe & Russia Fund Inc.), Shinsei Bank Limited, Industria de Diseno Textil SA, Industria de Diseno Textil SA, and American International Group, Inc. Langhammer currently serves as Vice Chairman at RWL Water Group, and as a member of Advisory Board at New Mountain Capital, LLC., Miller Buckfire & Co., LLC., and at Invision Private Equity AG where he also serves on the Board of Directors. Langhammer also serves as a Director of Inditex S.A., RJR Acquisition Corp. since 1998, and The Walt Disney Company since 2005. He is a Director of The German-American Chamber of Commerce, Inc., The Japan Society, and Co-Chairman and Director of The American Institute for Contemporary German Studies at Johns Hopkins University. He served as a Director of American International Group, Inc. from January 2006 to October 2008 and received the Foreign Policy Association’s Global Social Responsibility Award and was honored by the International Center in New York on behalf of his service. Mr. Langhammer is also a senior fellow of the Foreign Policy Association. He studied in Germany, Canada, and Japan.
